WASHINGTON — U.S.
Ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer has said that women, who were engaged in providing sex to Japanese soldiers throughout Asia before and during World War II, were rape victims of the Japanese military, the New York Times reported in its electronic edition Saturday.
Well Senator Lantos. I have followed your career with respect and admiration.
One might say even with pride since I was born in Budapest and like you left Hungary as a child ,not in 1947 but 1956. You found a new home and country in USA . I by chance and choice found happiness and home in Japan.
So I ask you for justice, fairness and compassion.
I ask you to take urgent action and reprimand and if possible reassign Thomas Schieffer to.......... anything , anywhere except Japan. This man may be a good oil and gas lawyer but as diplomat he is obtuse at best and ....... forgive me.... is dumb as a door.He have done more harm to the US-Japan relations than a dozen Korean undercover "bricks" in the US embassy. You can get very exact information about "comfort women from the document/report by Psychological Warfare Team Attached to U.S. Army Forces India-Burma Prisoners interrogation: 20 Korean Comfort Girls.Date of Capture: August 10, 1944 with the conclusion that: "A "comfort girl" is nothing more than a prostitute or "professional camp follower" attached to the Japanese Army for the benefit of the soldiers. "
In spite of endless slander and vilification of the Japanese army-navy service-men by various Korean organizations especially in USA , the fact is that these women were prostitutes often sold for one years advance payment to Korean middlemen by their parents since organized and supervised prostitution was legal and publicly accepted in all of pre-1945 Japan and territories under her administration .In fact 50% of the comfort girls were Japanese.
We are used to the Korean Pyongyang-led cacophony about alleged war-crime-sex slave stories fronted by retired "comfort women" and their coaches , but when the US ambassador redefines prostitutes as rape victims he must be stoped.
I happen to know what soldier-group-rape is.
In Tiszafuered,November 1944 one of my aunts (Lidi-neni) Lidia was taken away at gunpoint by russian soldiers. One week later she was carried back unable to walk from their camp with her legs crampt up against her chest . She never recovered living out the rest of her life not being able to let any man touch her. Her elder sister Eszter was luckier. They shot her for refusing and although a criple the rest of her life she gave birth to 5 healthy children . That was the price they had to pay to get rid of the mad Austrian Corporal in Berlin and their ordeal was a far cry from the daily life of the comfort women which is described in detail by the US Psychological Warfare Team:
The interrogations show the average Korean "comfort girl" to be about twenty-five years old, uneducated, childish, and selfish . She claims to dislike her "profession" and would rather not talk either about it or her family. Because of the kind treatment she received as a prisoner from American soldiers at Myitkyina and Ledo, she feels that they are more emotional than Japanese soldiers. She is afraid of Chinese and Indian troops. In Myitkina their food was prepared by and purchased from the "house master" as they received no regular ration from the Japanese Army.
They lived in near-luxury in Burma in comparison to other places. This was especially true of their second year in Burma. They lived well because their food and material was not heavily rationed and they had plenty of money with which to purchase desired articles.
While in Burma they amused themselves by participating in sports events with both officers and men, and attended picnics, entertainments, and social dinners. They had a phonograph and in the towns they were allowed to go shopping. The interrogations further show that the health of these girls was good. They were well supplied with all types of contraceptives, and often soldiers would bring their own which had been supplied by the army. They were well trained in looking after both themselves and customers in the matter of hygiene. A regular Japanese Army doctor visited the houses once a week and any girl found diseased was given treatment, secluded, and eventually sent to a hospital. This same procedure was carried on within the ranks of the Army itself, but it is interesting to note that a soldier did not lose pay during the period he was confined.
The average Japanese soldier is embarrassed about being seen in a "comfort house" according to one of the girls who said, "when the place is packed he is apt to be ashamed if he has to wait in line for his turn". However there were numerous instances of proposals of marriage and in certain cases marriages actually took place. All the girls agreed that the worst officers and men who came to see them were those who were drunk and leaving for the front the following day. But all likewise agreed that even though very drunk the Japanese soldier never discussed military matters or secrets with them. Though the girls might start the conversation about some military matter the officer or enlisted man would not talk, but would in fact "scold us for discussing such un-lady like subjects. Even Col. Maruyama when drunk would never discuss such matters." The soldiers would often express how much they enjoyed receiving magazines, letters and newspapers from home. They also mentioned the receipt of "comfort bags" filled with canned goods, magazines, soap, handkerchiefs, toothbrush, miniature doll, lipstick, and woolen clothes. The lipstick and cloths were feminine and the girls couldn't understand why the people at home were sending such articles. They speculated that the sender could only have had themselves or the "native girls" in mind.

Based on this document and the very strict discipline in all Japanese Imperial Armed forces the assumption of mass-rape and sex slavery seems to be utter nonsense.
Nevertheless U.S. Ambassador to Japan Thomas Schieffer has said that women, who were engaged in providing sex to Japanese soldiers throughout Asia before and during World War II, were rape victims of the Japanese military. Insult and injury done , Mr Schieffer is not expected to change his private convictions or start educating himself in history. He would have to start learning the difference between Hiroshima and Hindenburg. He is representing the US government here in Japan and that makes him a problem . Libel is not what the american taxpayers is paying him for.
Senator Lantos, please get this man and his calumnious statements out of Japan's face. And that as soon as possible. Every additional day of him being ambassador is damaging and harmful.
